Photos: Roller painting the Land Rover Series 2

The paint job completed

My Land Rover series 2 was in dire need of a fresh coat of paint. It was currently residing in a faded nato green which had been painted on top of marine blue.

So back in April this year, I took a few days to paint the Land Rover in satin bronze green. The paint I bought from eBay, and it is formulated to be applied with a roller and brush.

I knew what the finish would be as I had already painted a Land Rover 110 with a roller and brush a few years ago. It took me a couple of days to prepare the surface, and another couple of days to finish the painting.

I think you will agree, it made such a difference to the appearance of the Land Rover.

  • The passeneger side has been prepared and ready for painting
  • Door off, first wing completed
  • Sanded down the bulkhead and it was all solid
  • The bulkhead was in amazing condition for a 53 year old Land Rover
  • The front end nears completion
  • About half way through the painting now!
  • Fresh paint on the bulkhead, under the windscreen
  • Starting to come together
  • The bonnet dries in the sun
  • One of the doors drying in the garage
  • Looking smart now
  • Grill and chrome headlight surrounds back in place

  • The rear of the Land Rover was a bit fiddly

  • Door back in place, looking tidier on this side now!
