Land Rover Essentials: Tool Kit
Many Land Rover owners choose to carry some tools in the car most of the time. Maybe its a testiment to how frequently they go wrong!
In todays blog post we will examine some of the basic tools that you may want to keep in your Land Rover, as well as some other parts you may want to include if you are going a bit further afield.
Basic tools you should include are:
- A good quality socket set
- A selection of spanners
- A selection of screwdrivers
Many Landy owners elect to carry a farmers high lift jack, but although these can be very versatile, (they can get you out of trouble if you are stuck in deep ruts for example) they are also heavy and bulky and can be dangerous in the wrong hands. A heavy duty bottle jack may be a safer option, and it will certainly be lighter and take up less room.
On a foreign expedition, you will also need essential spares that may be difficult to obtain abroad. These include:
- Air filter
- Fuel filter
- Wheel bearings
- Propshaft UJ's
- Fuses & Bulbs
- Engine, gearbox and axle oils
- Brake fluid
- Warning triangles
- Hi-Viz wasitcoat
Also useful are get me home repair kits which include
- Radweld
- Metal Bond
- Pipe
- Exhaust and puncture repair items
- Gaffer/Duck Tape
Don't forget that torches are useful to carry in the car, but remember to carry spare batteries.
