Land Rover 110 Project: From Station Wagon to Utility Wagon!
The project Land Rover 110 is currently in station wagon format, but I have been wanting to get rid of the side windows behind the 2nd row of seats.
The reason is 2 fold; 1: For more security & 2: because one of the rear panels is damaged.
So I set about locating some hard top sides. Luckily, Series 3 88inch Land Rover sides just bolt straight in, so I posted on the Torbay 4x4 club forums to see if anybody had some.
It turned out, the club president had a load lying around, and best thing was he didn't want anything for them - result!
So during the snowy period last week, I took a couple of hours out to change the sides.
It's a fairly straight forward job, as the panels are only held in place with bolts, so it was a case of undoing all the bolts securing the panel in place, jacking the roof up and then removing the panel.
The new hardtop panels just slotted into place. I greased the sealing rubbers with waterproof grease to make sure I got it as watertight as possible as we all know Land Rovers leak at the best of times.
2 hours later the job was complete - so the station wagon has now become a utility wagon!
To complete the job, I now have to paint the sides when the weather warms up.
