How to replace a quarterlight window on a Land Rover 110

When I bought the Land Rover 110, it came with the small window in the rear passenger door missing.

Replacing it was a matter of urgency as without it, the Landy couldn't be secured. So it was high on the agenda of my 110 job list.

This is how I put in a new window:

The first job was to remove the door card, and the photo on the left below shows you where the screws are which the door card in place.

Once the door card was removed, I had to remove the inner door/window winder assembly (middle photo below) to gain access to the bolts which hold the quarterlight window in place.

With everything removed I could get the bolts undone which hold the lower window channel in place. The photo on the right above shows the location of these bolts.

With the bolts removed, I could now measure up the replacement window. As I had some thick clear perspex laying around in the garage, I decided to make the window from that, rather than buy a new glass panel to replace it.

After measuring twice and cutting once, I offer the new plastic panel up to the hole - it looked good! Now came the job of getting it in, which took us a little while to figure out. lol

You have to wind down the window and move the vertical slider column which separates the static window with the movable window. We knocked it over to the right to give enough access to slide the new window into the runners. Then with some light tapping it should pop into place.

We then slid the new window back up again, and positioned the lower window channel in place and did the bolts up again.
